Whiterock Resort can accommodate overnight Family Reunion groups of about 35 people, with room for more for day time activities.

Oakridgebedroom.JPG (19254 bytes)The Oak Ridge House officially sleeps 13 people (5 bedrooms, 3 queens, 7 twins).   Extra kids can be tucked into the house, though at about 18 people, the two bathrooms become a real constraint.

For extra Family Reunion Sleeping Quarters, consider Woodland Carriage House, which is about 1 mile from Oak Ridge.  Woodland can sleep 7, and has room for a few extras.   Our Main Campground is adjacent to Woodland.   For additional accommodations, Hollyhock Cottage (sleeps 6) and the Garst Farm Lodge (sleeps 10) are about 4 1/2 miles from Oak Ridge.

The Hollyhock and Lodge Combination can sleep a total of 16.  This combination is our most elegant, but there are some constraints:  kitchen access is  limited (but subject to discussion); there is not room to tuck in extra people; and of course it is a relatively more expensive choice.   But, if you want wonderful accommodations this Combination makes a good choice.  See Accommodations  for more detail.

Area hotels include the Carrollton Inn, the Super 8 and the Burke Motor Inn in Carroll (30 miles), the Super 8 in Perry (35 miles) and the Super 8 in Jefferson (30 miles).    The following links provide more information about area motels/hotels.  Western Iowa Tourism   Iowa Division of Tourism

IVYBULLET.jpg (983 bytes)Meals
riverfoodline.JPG (15023 bytes)Many Family Reunion Groups do most of their own cooking at Oak Ridge Country House.   There is a grocery store in Coon Rapids.  However, the Resort can provide meals in several formats, to ease the burden of the cooks:

IVYBULLET.jpg (983 bytes)Enjoy a BBQ or a Brunch at the River House, to give the family a chance to enjoy that beautiful facility.
IVYBULLET.jpg (983 bytes)Meals  can be served at the Garst Lodge (maximum 24 people), which is an ideal occasion to learn more about the History of the Farm, and visit the Gift Shop.
IVYBULLET.jpg (983 bytes)Resort Staff can prepare meals and deliver them to Oak Ridge, ready for you to heat and serve.
IVYBULLET.jpg (983 bytes) Resort staff can prepare a picnic dinner for you to cook over a campfire adjacent to the fishing ponds.  We recommend that you rent a gator to haul equipment  for this picnic-fishing adventure.
IVYBULLET.jpg (983 bytes)Take the family to town for a meal.   The Bowling Alley has good, inexpensive food and of course, bowling.  The Bowling Alley can set you up in a separate room if you prefer.  The Highway 141 Cafe is another good choice for an informal meal.

IVYBULLET.jpg (983 bytes)Activities
trailridegroup.JPG (6634 bytes)All of the activities detailed elsewhere are available to family reunions.  Canoe floats are always popular.  Hay rack rides, fishing, astronomy tours and hiking are other popular family activities.  Many families stage private theaters or games in our barn.
